Getting to Las Terrenas
Three airports serve the north coast, each a different trade-off between flight options and drive time.
Airports
El Catey (AZS)
The closest airport to Las Terrenas, about 45 minutes by road. Fewer direct international routes than Punta Cana or Santo Domingo.
Santo Domingo (SDQ)
The capital's international airport, roughly two and a half to three hours by road. The widest range of flight options.
Punta Cana (PUJ)
The busiest international airport on the island, around three to three and a half hours by road across to the north coast.
Getting around
Taxis and private transfers
The easiest option for the airport run — arrange in advance or through the villa. Metered street taxis are uncommon outside town.
Renting a car
The most flexibility for day trips to El Limón or Samaná town. Main roads are paved; some coastal stretches are rough.
Renting an ATV
Popular for short trips around town and to nearby beaches. Not recommended for the highway transfer from the airport.
Renting a scooter
A cheaper, lighter option than an ATV for getting around town and to the nearest beaches.

El Catey (AZS) is closest if there's a convenient flight; otherwise Santo Domingo (SDQ) usually has more options for a similar drive time, and Punta Cana (PUJ) is the furthest but often the cheapest to reach internationally.
Not for the villa itself, but a car or ATV makes day trips to El Limón, Samaná town, and the surrounding beaches much easier.
